Authorities have charged a former Princeton University student in connection with a gruesome crime that left his younger brother dead and the family cat burned inside their New Jersey home.

According to investigators, the suspect allegedly attacked his brother with a knife and a golf club, causing fatal injuries. After committing the act, he reportedly set the family’s pet cat on fire before emergency responders arrived at the scene.

Law enforcement officials stated that they received a distress call from the suspect himself, claiming there was a fire and a deceased individual inside the residence. When officers arrived, they found the victim with severe wounds and the burned remains of the cat.

The suspect was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, weapons offenses, and animal cruelty. Authorities are still working to determine a possible motive behind the attack.

Neighbors and friends of the family expressed shock over the incident, describing the suspect and his brother as individuals with promising futures. The case remains under investigation as officials prepare for upcoming court proceedings.
