In her first television appearance in years, Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett reaffirmed her position on the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling, which ended federal abortion protections. Barrett framed the decision not as an ideological statement, but as a reaffirmation of democratic governance, emphasizing that abortion policy belongs in the hands of state legislatures and voters—not the courts.

She underscored that the Constitution does not enshrine abortion as a fundamental right, and defended the Court’s role as interpreting the law rather than shaping policy based on public opinion. Barrett insisted judicial decisions must remain grounded in legal precedent and constitutional text, not swayed by external political forces.
