In a bid to address concerns surrounding President Biden’s age, close associates have reportedly suggested various measures to enhance his public image. While Democratic strategists and donors express frustration with the Biden campaign’s handling of the age issue, discussions have centered on modifying the President’s attire and his walking on camera.

Sources within the administration have indicated that advisers and family members are contemplating a series of adjustments to mitigate any perceived frailty and demonstrate the President’s vitality. One of the recommendations put forward involves having President Biden walk shorter distances during public appearances, particularly when cameras are rolling. This strategy is aimed at portraying a more energetic image while reducing the risk of falls.

Another consideration is the President’s choice of footwear. It has been proposed that he occasionally swap his formal shoes for more comfortable ones. This change not only aims to make his stride appear less stiff but also seeks to minimize the likelihood of accidents or mishaps.

Democratic strategists and donors have expressed their discontent with the Biden campaign’s handling of the age issue. They argue that not enough has been done to assuage the public’s concerns, particularly as President Biden celebrated his 81st birthday. He currently holds the record for being the oldest U.S. president in history.

Many donors are urging the campaign to adopt a more proactive approach, embracing humor and embracing President Biden’s age as a testament to his wisdom in these turbulent times. Some even suggest poking fun at ‘Grandpa Joe’ to dispel concerns. Alan Kessler, a Democratic donor, voiced his concerns about a perceived double standard, noting that while Biden is consistently scrutinized for his age, the issue rarely arises in discussions about 77-year-old former President Donald Trump.

Close allies of President Biden maintain that he is mentally capable of fulfilling the demands of the job. However, some acknowledge that there are moments when the President can appear physically frail, a sentiment shared by a few insiders who preferred to remain anonymous.

Former Obama adviser David Axelrod recently emphasized the significance of the “age issue,” which looms over President Biden. Polling data has highlighted concerns regarding his age, and Axelrod underscored the challenge of reversing public perception in front of the camera.

In response to these concerns, Axios reported that President Biden’s team has been taking steps to prevent any public mishaps. The team is reportedly planning to limit stair climbs during public appearances and encourage the President to wear tennis shoes, a precautionary measure given his diagnosis of “significant spinal arthritis.”

As President Biden navigates the challenges of his presidency, these considerations highlight the ongoing efforts to shape his public image and address concerns related to his age.
