Biden Calls For Gun Reforms Again After Recent Shootings

President Joe Biden has asked again for tighter gun rules after people were killed at a birthday party in Alabama and in a park in Kentucky.

Biden said in a statement, “Jill and I are praying for their families and for the many others who were hurt and are fighting for their lives this weekend because of gun violence.” In the United States, gun crime kills more young people than anything else, and the number of deaths is going up, not down. This is wrong and should stop.

On Saturday night, there was a Sweet 16 party in Dadeville, Alabama. There were four deaths, and fifteen people were hurt. Some of the victims are getting medical care right now, and the police said they are still trying to figure out what happened.

Late on a Saturday night in Louisville, Kentucky, someone opened fire on a crowd. Two people died and four were hurt. The guy who did it is still out there, according to the cops. The week before, five people were killed at an Old National Bank.

Why are kids in the United States today so afraid to have fun on their big birthdays? When going to and from places like schools, shopping malls, and parks, parents are always worried. Biden questioned.

Three children and three adults were shot and killed at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, at the end of last month. After the murder of a friend of his wife, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee (R) ordered tougher background checks. Biden told him that it was very important.

I agree with what Tennessee Governor Bill Lee is trying to do to improve background checks with an executive order and get the legislature to pass a “red flag” bill. He said, “I hope more Republican officials will follow suit and do something.”

President Joe Biden said that Republican leaders are “in a race to the bottom with the NRA on dangerous laws that make gun safety even worse.” At the recent meeting of the National Rifle Association in Indianapolis, a lot of powerful Republicans were there. Then, Biden quickly talks about some of the changes he wants Congress to make.

“Congress has the power to require safe storage of guns, require background checks for all gun sales, end gun manufacturers’ immunity from liability, and ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines,” said Biden. “You really need to do this right away.”
