On Friday, President Biden declared that his son Hunter “hasn’t done anything wrong,” despite the fact that federal investigators are weighing whether or not to prosecute him with tax and firearms violations.
Biden supported Hunter in an interview with MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle, which aired on Friday night at 10 p.m.
Nothing is wrong with my child. He has my whole confidence. When asked how the allegations against his son will effect his presidency, Biden, 80, told Ruhle, “I have faith in him, and it makes me proud of him.”
After four years of investigating Hunter Biden, US Attorney for Delaware David Weiss is reportedly on the verge of deciding whether or not to file charges against the president’s son.
Hunter may face charges of felony and misdemeanor tax offences, as well as lying on a government document in order to purchase a firearm, as a result of Weiss’s possible plans to pursue such action.
On Friday, Biden spoke with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) about the battle over the debt ceiling and made his case for re-election.
Biden will be 82 years old on Inauguration Day, so Ruhle challenged him to justify his candidacy for a second term in office. Biden spoke highly of his own “honor” and “effectiveness” and praised his “wisdom.”
I’ve been in public service for over half a century, so I’ve picked up a lot of useful knowledge in that time. “I’ve run for office more times than anyone else,” Biden boasted.
“And I think I’ve shown that I’m both honest and good at what I do,” he said.
The Justice Department is currently investigating Biden’s handling of classified material during his time as Vice President under Barack Obama and throughout his 36 years in the Senate as he begins his campaign for re-election in 2024. This makes Biden the oldest sitting US president.
Republican lawmakers have claimed this week that a “whistleblower” informed the House Oversight Committee that the FBI had received information suggesting that Biden had committed an unlawful act.
On Wednesday, the whistleblower material was disclosed by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky) and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa). The source said that the information was concerning “an alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national involving the exchange of money for policy decisions.”
Biden has not been questioned about the allegation since it was made.
Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Vice President Joe Biden (D) met to discuss raising the debt ceiling; Biden described McCarthy as a “honest broker” who yet had ties to the “far right” of the Republican Party.
“I think he’s an honest man,” Biden remarked of McCarthy. But I think he’s in a good spot because he had to make a deal with the far right that was quite close to 15 votes for and 15 votes against.
Biden stated, “There is the Republican Party, and then there are the MAGA Republicans.” The Make America Great Again (MAGA) Republicans have cornered him, and if he wants to save his job as speaker, he must do what they say. He’s signed off on some very far-fetched ideas, even if he really believe in them.
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned Congress this week that the United States might default on its debt payments as soon as June 1 if the borrowing limit is not increased.
The debt ceiling will be discussed at a meeting with Vice President Joe Biden, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky), and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-TX) on May 9.
The House recently passed a plan to increase the debt ceiling with support from the Republican majority, but the president said he would not sign it because “there’s no chance” he would.
There is “absolutely no possibility,” he said again.
In response to a question on whether or not bipartisan legislation might be passed by Congress before the 2024 presidential election, Vice President Joe Biden responded, “Yes.”
The president, who has accomplished much in his first term, was questioned by Ruhle why his low approval ratings persisted. The president seems mildly taken aback.
“For three years, they’ve only heard bad news,” Biden added, placing the blame on the media. To paraphrase, “There’s nothing good.”
On the same day that new guidelines were announced for press badges and access to White House meetings and events, the president attacked the way journalists had written about him.
While some Democrats believe that Biden should have switched out his running companion for the 2024 race for Vice President Kamala Harris, Biden has been very supportive of his choice.
It’s been said about her, “She’s fantastic.”She hasn’t gotten the attention she deserves, what with all that’s been going on, Biden added.
Vice President Biden said that former President Barack Obama is “committed to help in any way he can” in order to help him and his running mate, Senator Kamala Harris, win reelection to a second term.
