President Biden responded to reporters’ questions about the potential impeachment by Republicans in the House with a smile and brushed them off during an evening speech at the White House on expanding access to mental health care.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy stated that Republican lawmakers may consider an impeachment inquiry of Biden over allegations of financial misconduct. McCarthy emphasized the need to investigate the questions raised by House Republicans concerning the Biden family finances to ascertain the truth regarding any possible wrongdoing.
Some Republicans, particularly House Freedom Caucus members, are supportive of the idea of impeachment. Rep. Bob Good and Rep. Ralph Norman expressed their opinions, with Norman suggesting that there could be “an uprising” against Biden if the House did not pursue impeachment.
The corruption scandal involving Biden and his son, Hunter, has been gaining momentum, with new revelations emerging. One such revelation was about Hunter Biden’s financial relationship with a Romanian national convicted on corruption charges while Joe Biden was vice president.
McCarthy referred to evidence and IRS investigators’ testimonies, stating that the legitimacy of their caucus’ probes is mounting. He cited a confidential human source who claimed that Biden received $5 million from a Burisma executive while he was vice president, a matter that has been a topic of denial by Biden.
The President has consistently denied any involvement in Hunter’s business dealings and rebuffed questions about the “big guy” reference in the FBI form.
McCarthy did not provide a specific timeline for launching an impeachment inquiry into Biden during his statements.
