President Biden expressed awe at the remarkable courage displayed by students at the Air Force Academy during his visit, just ten days before his attendance at the White House LGBT+ pride event.
“You all are an incredible inspiration, the most fearless and motivating individuals I’ve ever had the privilege to meet,” Biden proclaimed during the pride event. “In all my years, I have never witnessed such bravery gathered in one place. The strength and resilience in this yard surpass any other I can recall.”
A mere fortnight earlier, Biden had taken the stage to deliver a commencement address at the Air Force Academy, where he famously stumbled. In his speech to the cadets, he celebrated the academy’s diversity and emphasized its significance.
“Your graduating class stands as a testament to the immense diversity we see today, not just within this academy, but across the entire nation,” Biden commended the graduates. “It is this very diversity that empowers us and sets us apart. We stand tall because of it. We fight relentlessly until victory is achieved.”
During the pride event, the White House proudly hoisted the pride flag alongside the American flags, symbolizing their unwavering support. Biden reiterated his unwavering commitment to safeguarding the rights of LGBTQ children and transgender children in his address to the passionate activists.
“When we stand together as a united nation, propelled by our collective enthusiasm and unyielding pride, we forge a path towards progress,” the president asserted. “Now, more than ever, it is crucial that we embrace our identity as the United States of America and take pride in it.”
Furthermore, the White House announced progressive federal initiatives on Thursday, aimed at bolstering support for the LGBT+ community. These initiatives include programs designed to assist LGBT+ youth and a Department of Education campaign to counter Republican endeavors to remove specific books from public schools, preserving inclusivity and diversity in education.
