In a surprising turn of events, a prominent figure from the Black Lives Matter movement in Rhode Island has publicly endorsed the presidential bid of Donald Trump for the 2024 elections. Mark Fisher, one of the founding members of the BLM chapter in Rhode Island, voiced his disapproval of the Democratic Party during a segment on “Fox & Friends,” expressing a sentiment of disillusionment among some black voters with the party’s stance and actions.
Fisher articulated his concerns, emphasizing the perceived inconsistencies and failures of the Democrats to support the black community effectively. “The brothers are aware. We recognize when we are supported and when we’re disregarded, and it’s become clear that the Democratic Party’s support is lacking,” he stated.
Fisher elaborated on his stance, asserting that the party’s policies are detrimental to the core values and stability of black families. Earlier in the month, on “The Kim Iversen Show,” Fisher had commended Trump for implementing measures that promote the advancement of black Americans. “The Democratic Party has taken our vote for granted for too long, and their policies, I believe, are inherently racist. On the other hand, Trump is candid and straightforward, and his administration has made significant strides for our community more than any other in recent memory,” Fisher explained.
This shift in allegiance comes at a critical juncture, as recent polling data reveals an uptick in Trump’s support within the black electorate in key swing states, marking a dramatic increase from the 2020 election figures.
Fisher also pointed out that there is a segment of the black voting population that remains aligned with the Democratic Party due to a lack of information about Trump’s contributions and policies that have benefited their communities. He called for enlightened leaders within the community to disseminate this knowledge to foster a natural and organic shift in support.
Still identifying as a member of Black Lives Matter, Fisher expressed a commitment to fostering solidarity among diverse groups. “I advocate for unity. I believe in unifying all marginalized communities, because united, as one nation under God, we are indomitable,” he concluded.
