The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC), representing a significant number of U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents, recently expressed support for the Texas National Guard’s border security efforts. The NBPC, which consists of over 18,000 members, issued a strong critique of the Biden administration’s border policies, describing them as having catastrophic consequences for the United States.

In a public statement, the NBPC underscored the collaborative relationship and mutual respect between the Texas National Guard and the Border Patrol agents. The union emphasized that both groups are committed to executing lawful orders in their efforts to manage the southern border.

The backing from the NBPC comes against the backdrop of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s strategic use of razor wire to prevent illegal border crossings. This action persists despite a Supreme Court ruling allowing Border Patrol agents to cut through such barriers. The statement from the NBPC aimed to clarify that there is no conflict between the Texas National Guard and the Border Patrol agents, asserting that both are working in unison under challenging circumstances.

A senior Customs and Border Protection official further confirmed that there are currently no plans to dismantle the razor wire installations set up by the Texas National Guard. This official highlighted the ongoing, strong collaborative effort between the Border Patrol, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Military Department, all united in their mission to protect the nation.

This statement from the NBPC, along with the actions and statements from Texas officials, reflects the ongoing complexities and contentious nature of immigration policies and border security efforts in the United States.
