House Republicans are officially calling on infamous mouthpiece Maxine Waters to resign from her position after she publicly stated that she wants people to “confront” Trump officials.
“If you think we’re rallying now you ain’t seen nothing yet,” Waters told supporters at a rally in Los Angeles over the weekend. “If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”
That’s not all, specifically, Andy Biggs of Arizona is also calling for new measures to be put in place to stop members of Congress from calling on acts of violence like this.
“So we just introduced it, we have some co-sponsors, but what she did was to basically incite people to come after and attack members of the president’s cabinet,” Biggs told The Hill. “And also spread that out to more people.”
Waters, of course, is attempting to defend her position saying that her remarks were more meant to be an encouragement for a peaceful protest.
“I have nothing to do with the way people decide to protest. Protest is the democratic way as long as it is peaceful,” Waters said. “I believe in peaceful protest. It is guaranteed to you in a democracy.”
Earlier on Monday, Former George W. Bush White House press secretary Ari Fleischer called on Congress to censure Waters.
“There’s enough in this society, you don’t engage in those types of practices. And, Maxine basically denied that she called on people to harass others. No peace, no rest. So she is still sticking by what she has done,” said Fleischer. “The press needs to have a feeding frenzy among the left as they always do on the right. It’s her turn now. Frankly I’m at the point where, if she continues to double down the house ought to take up a motion to censure her. Because this does lead to violence.”
Five members of Congress have signed on to the motion to censure so far. “Everybody agrees that it was just highly objectionable what she did,” Biggs said.
