In the early hours of February 9, 2025, a fatal shooting occurred in the Morris Park neighborhood of the Bronx, resulting in the death of 49-year-old Trevor Hughes. The incident stemmed from a dispute over a blocked driveway on Fowler Avenue.
According to law enforcement reports, Hughes returned home to find a vehicle obstructing his driveway. An argument ensued between Hughes and the occupants of the vehicle, during which Hughes was shot in the torso. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Lavar Davis, fled the scene but was later apprehended by police. Davis has been charged with second-degree murder and is currently being held without bail. Investigations revealed that Davis has a prior criminal record, including a conviction for a 1997 murder in Schenectady, for which he served 24 years before being paroled in March 2021.
Neighbors described Hughes as a kind and helpful individual, often assisting others in the community. His death has left the neighborhood in mourning, with residents expressing shock and sadness over the tragic event.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Davis is scheduled to appear in court later this week, where his legal representation is expected to address the charges.
