A 1-year-old girl from the Bronx has tragically passed away following a severe head injury, ruled a homicide. The child collapsed after an alleged assault on August 28 by her mother’s 19-year-old boyfriend, who struck her multiple times in the head. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, underwent emergency surgery, but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident, charged with felony assault, reckless endangerment, and endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held without bail and may face additional charges following a grand jury review. The case has sparked concern in the tight-knit housing complex, where neighbors had reported frequent disputes from the household.
The next court hearing is scheduled for September 18.
