For years people have questioned the ability to produce enough green energy for the entire country with tree huggers claiming that we can produce enough. Tell that to California that has been suffering from blackouts due to the lack of energy resources. Even Ca Gov Gavin Newsom is admitting it’s short comings.
A well kept secret is that you cannot just build an electricity generation plant for green energy. That is because electricity cannot be stored. You must generate it and use it. You probably realize that when there is no sun or wind, you can run low on electricity very quickly. But, did you know too much wind or sun is equally bad and maybe worse.
If you don’t shut down during periods of too much sun or wind, it can destroy the power grid used to distribute the electricity. So, when you build a green power plant, you must also build a power plant that runs on natural gas. It must be constantly on so it can begin producing electricity within 30 minutes of shutting down wind and solar.
Now, keep in mind the fact that California buys green energy produced in other states and what does that tell you about our ability to live on renewable sources of energy alone.
There is currently high demand for electricity across the state, as the entire West Coast has been hit by a heat wave and record-breaking temperatures.
One reason the state lacked power, officials admitted, was its over-reliance on “renewables” — i.e. wind and solar power.
There was not enough wind to keep turbines going, Newsom said, and cloud cover and nightfall restricted solar power.
“While we’ve had some peak gust winds,” he explained, “wind gust events across the state have been relatively mild.”
