In a significant interception, agents from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) assigned to the port of entry at the Camino Real International Bridge in Eagle Pass, Texas, uncovered approximately 88.8 pounds of liquid methamphetamine concealed inside plastic bottles during a vehicle inspection — a shipment estimated to be worth about $816,556 at street value.
The discovery took place on October 29 when officers referred a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban for secondary inspection. Upon closer examination, five plastic bottles filled with the liquid narcotic were found hidden within the vehicle’s cargo area. Homeland Security Investigations opened a federal investigation following the seizure.
Officials noted that this interdiction forms a part of an intensified effort to curb synthetic-drug trafficking through South Texas ports of entry, where liquid-form methamphetamine shipments have increasingly been identified. CBP announced plans to increase inspection activity along the Eagle Pass corridor and urged the public to report suspicious border-related behavior.
Port Director Pete Beattie commended the officers’ vigilance, stating that routine alertness at primary inspection helped trigger the secondary search that led to the seizure. The case continues to evolve as law-enforcement officials trace the shipment’s origin and destination.
