A courthouse in New Hampshire turned into a scene of chaos when a Venezuelan national attempted to escape federal custody, triggering a physical confrontation that left a bystander injured.
The 33-year-old suspect, Arnuel Marquez Colmenarez, was present for an arraignment on multiple charges including DUI, operating without a license, and leaving the scene of an accident. As he exited the courthouse elevator, federal agents approached to detain him—but Colmenarez bolted.
Security footage captured the intense moment agents tackled him to the ground in the lobby. In the scuffle, an elderly man walking nearby with a cane was knocked down, prompting immediate concern from court personnel and onlookers.
Court officials confirmed the man resisted arrest and required assistance from a courthouse liaison officer to be restrained. Unaware of his detention, a judge later issued a bench warrant for failing to appear in court.
Colmenarez has since been transferred to a Texas immigration facility, while the incident reignites debate over whether enforcement actions should be conducted in public judicial spaces where civilians are at risk.
