A wild street takeover in the Malba neighborhood of Queens erupted into violence and destruction early Sunday morning around 12:30 a.m. A group of drivers performed dangerous stunts—speeding over lawns and doing donuts—on South Drive and 141st Street when local resident Blake Ferrer confronted the crowd. He and his wife were then viciously attacked; Ferrer suffered a broken nose and fractured ribs during the assault.
Video footage shows the mob stomping and kicking the couple while a nearby vehicle was set on fire. The flames erupted after one of the attackers lit the car, turning the scene into a chaotic blaze captured by residents.
According to witnesses, the takeover involved dozens of vehicles and individuals from outside the area. One local, Larry Rusch, tried to intervene by parking his company car in the path of the stunt drivers, but the crowd encircled the vehicle and ignited it.
In the aftermath, councilwoman Vickie Paladino sharply criticized law enforcement’s response, saying early 911 calls were redirected to non-emergency lines and that the area remains vulnerable. Police acknowledged high call volume and staffing constraints, but pledged to increase patrols in the precinct going forward.
No arrests have been publicly confirmed yet. Community members warn the incident could spark vigilantism if enforcement does not ramp up, and many are demanding swift action to prevent similar raids on quiet residential streets.
