Murders just keep increasing in Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago with 50 more shot and seven killed this week including a pregnant woman and a five month old baby. This is the consequence of allowing criminals free reins in your city. No amount of bluster or trying to pass the buck to President Trump is going to change that. The bloody streets have gotten even bloodier under Lightfoot’s direction.
Chicago Fraternal Order of Police president John Catanzara, posted an open letter to federal authorities begging them for help, something he is not able to get from Lightfoot.
Catanzara said:
‘Mayor Lightfoot has proved to be a complete failure who is either unwilling or unable to maintain law and order here. I would be willing to sit down anytime and discuss ideas about how we can bring civility back to the streets of Chicago. These politicians are failing the good men and women of this city and the police department.”
Chicago is currently toying with the idea of at least partially defunding the police in a city that is under siege but not nearly as much as the police themselves. There is a very large number of people who want the police defunded altogether. Fortunately none of them have a parole hearing any time in the near future.
Lightfoot said:
“If you really wanted to help the city, let’s start with the fact that you would weigh in, Mr. President, on common sense… gun reform. It makes no sense that people from Chicago can go across the border to Indiana and buy military-grade weapons and bring them back to our city and kill our children.”
Even if the president were to weigh in on gun control, which he won’t, it still wouldn’t make you a competent mayor.
