CNN CEO Jeff Zucker is not the dumbest person in the media. The person who signed him to an extension this year is. Someone asked Zucker why his station fixates on President Trump. Zucker was quite candid about it, saying that when they aren’t talking about the president, their numbers go down.
Wow. I didn’t even know it was possible for their ratings to drop. Maybe if they took on a more honest name, they would get more viewers. How about The Cartoon Network? There is already a Cartoon Network and their ratings have passed CNN.
Zucker told Vanity Fair that whenever CNN tries to turn some of its coverage away from Trump toward other issues in the world, it loses viewers. So, CNN gives the audience what it wants.
“We’ve seen that anytime you break away from the Trump story and cover other events in this era, the audience goes away,” Zucker said. “So we know that, right now, Donald Trump dominates.”
Despite what some viewers tell Zucker, which is that they are sick of seeing Trump on the news so frequently, the audience makes its preference clear in how they tune in.
“People say all the time, ‘Oh, I don’t want to talk about Trump, I’ve had too much Trump,’ ” Zucker said. “And yet at the end of the day, all they want to do is talk about Trump.”
CNN makes the absurd claim that they have both anti and pro Trump people on their shows. Does Zucker not watch CNN? You can’t blame him. Not many people do. And in fact, is he aware that his anchors have thrown pro Trump people of their shows in the middle of the exchange, when they find themselves losing the argument?
