Nick Offerman, a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump, has taken a professional stance on-set while filming the thriller Sovereign with Dennis Quaid, a known Trump supporter. Offerman emphasized his unwillingness to “pick an argument” with Quaid over their political differences, prioritizing mutual respect and the shared goal of crafting a great film.
In a Reddit Q&A session, Offerman described Quaid as a “fantastic actor” and praised his performance in Sovereign, saying he’s “better in this film than almost anything I’ve seen him in.” He laughed about the limited time they spent together during filming, joking that bringing up political controversies—like the Epstein files—wouldn’t have fit between their morning greetings and scene rehearsals.
Offerman further explained that, although he strongly disagrees with Trump’s ideology, he recognizes that many Trump supporters are decent people caught in “a firehose of misinformation,” making reasoned political debate nearly impossible. Rather than engage in conflict, he said, he strives to infuse his work with empathy and authentic patriotism.
Offerman’s approach underscores a broader message: collaboration and professional respect can transcend ideological division to deliver meaningful storytelling.
