According to a source who is acquainted with the matter, Special Counsel David Weiss is going to take part in a transcribed interview in front of the House Judiciary Committee on November 7. The interview will take place in a private setting with the doors closed.
Weiss and the other federal prosecutors who are participating in the Hunter Biden probe are expected to appear in front of the House Judiciary Committee, which is chaired by Jim Jordan. Jordan has been working hard to make this happen. It was on October 11 that Jordan made the initial request for Weiss to appear. In the past, the Department of Justice (DOJ) had extended an invitation to Weiss to give a public testimony in the month of July.
Weiss was given jurisdiction over the Hunter Biden investigation and other matters linked to it after being designated as a special counsel by Attorney General Merrick Garland in the month of August. Since 2018, Weiss, who is currently serving as the United States Attorney for the District of Delaware, has been in charge of directing the investigation against Hunter Biden. The claims of political interference in the inquiry of the president’s son led to the appointment of him as the special counsel for the case.
The first thing that Weiss did as the special counsel was to charge Hunter Biden with various crimes relating to the acquisition and possession of a firearm. Hunter Biden entered a not guilty plea to all of the charges against him. According to statements made by Weiss, the inquiry against Hunter Biden is still going on.
This interview with Weiss takes place in the middle of an impeachment investigation being conducted by Republicans in the House against President Biden. However, the future of the impeachment investigation is currently unknown as a result of Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-California, being removed from his position as speaker of the House. It is anticipated that Jordan will hold a third vote for the speaker position on Friday. Jordan is now the Republican contender for speaker.
