Political pundit Scott Jennings has offered an olive branch to Catherine Zeta‑Jones after a heated live-TV confrontation with her son, Dylan Douglas, that drew widespread backlash.

During a November segment on CNN, the 25-year-old Douglas, who identifies as an actor and media personality, clashed with Jennings over recent policy debates. The exchange reportedly left the Douglas family upset with how the discussion unfolded.

Speaking later on a podcast, Jennings said he was “surprised” by the reaction and offered to apologize — even joking that he’d take Zeta-Jones to dinner to make amends. He described the on-air debate as a typical back-and-forth and said that off-camera Douglas had been polite and composed.

Jennings expressed hope that Douglas would return to the show. He said the confrontation wasn’t personal, but rather a clash of political perspectives, and that he respected Douglas’s calm demeanor away from the spotlight.
