Aubrey Huff, a former MLB player, has left the social networking site X in the wake of a public disagreement with conservative influencer Isabella Maria DeLuca. The dispute started when Huff posted a remark on a debate on X between DeLuca and Rachel Wilson, also known as “Rach4Patriarchy.” Huff took a screenshot of his comments, which he later removed, and they went viral on social media.

When DeLuca answered to Huff’s message, raising concerns about his intentions and bringing up his disparaging remarks against women, Huff’s engagement became more intense. After that, she posted a screenshot of a direct message with the subject line, “Hey beautiful let’s Colab [collaborate] over cocktails and bad decisions,” and an emoji of a winking face that she claimed to have gotten from Huff’s verified account on X.

DeLuca went on to assert that she never replied to Huff’s message and questioned his accusations on her and subsequent unfollowing. She surmised that these were his reactions to her declining to interact with him.

Upon searching the platform after these interactions were made public, Huff’s @aubrey_huff account on X was discovered to be nonexistent. By posting a screenshot of Huff’s MLB.com bio, which shows that he married Barbara Heaton in 2007 and has two sons, DeLuca also brought attention to the baseball player’s marital status. It is said that Huff and Heaton got divorced in 2017.

DeLuca, who enjoys a sizable social media following, has chosen to keep her Instagram account private while keeping her X account open.

Huff, a thirteen-year MLB player, is no stranger to controversy. His current Twitter handle, X, was previously suspended in 2021 for comments made after the Capitol building storming on January 6th and for disseminating false information on COVID-19. Elon Musk bought the website, at which point his account was restored.

This episode contributes to the current conversations over public individuals’ conduct on social media and the effects of their interactions with other users.
