Country music star Morgan Wallen found himself in legal trouble after an incident at a Nashville rooftop bar led to his arrest. Wallen, known for his song “Wasted on You,” was apprehended following allegations that he threw a chair from the sixth floor of Chiefs Bar in downtown Nashville around 10:45 p.m. on a Sunday. The chair reportedly came within three feet of hitting officers from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, who were on the scene.
The event occurred shortly after the bar’s grand opening, celebrated over the weekend and noted for its ownership by country singer Eric Church. After being taken into custody just after 12:30 a.m. on Monday, Wallen faced three counts of reckless endangerment and an additional charge of disorderly conduct. His attorney, Worrick Robinson, has stated that Wallen is fully cooperating with the authorities regarding the incident.
Following his arrest, Wallen’s bond was set at $15,250, and he was released from Davidson County jail in the early hours of the morning. Social media posts and comments from individuals who claim to have witnessed the event depicted Wallen in a less favorable light, including one claim that the thrown chair nearly injured two police officers.
Wallen’s legal entanglements are not new; he previously faced charges for disorderly conduct in 2020 after an episode at Kid Rock’s Honky Tonk bar. Moreover, Wallen had a DUI charge dismissed in 2016. Despite these legal issues, Wallen has enjoyed considerable success in his music career, with his third studio album, “One Thing at a Time,” featuring hits like “Last Night” and “Thinkin’ Bout Me.” However, his career has also been marred by controversy, including a 2021 incident where he was recorded using a racial slur, for which he later issued an apology.
The singer’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 3, aligning with his upcoming performances in Nashville as part of his “One Night at a Time” tour, which will then proceed to Pennsylvania. Wallen’s representatives and legal team have yet to comment further on the incident.
