Sen Bill Nelson used a disaster to raise money for another disaster, his continuance in the Senate. He gives a list of organizations, you can contribute to. One of those is Act Blue, the leading fundraising site for the Democratic Party. Being insensitive to the plight of his constituents is nothing new for Nelson.
Before the hurricane hit, he used Michael to raise money for his campaign and did the same with Hurricane Irma a year or two back. I wonder how many people Nelson has scammed this way. Here they are thinking they are contributing money to hurricane relief and they end up financing the Democratic party.
ActBlue is a federally registered political action committee that is the self-described “online clearinghouse for Democratic action.”
“ActBlue is a nonprofit, building fundraising technology for the left,” according to its website.
According to its “about” page, “Democratic campaigns get more donations through ActBlue than any other platform.”
“…A majority of Democratic Senate and House campaigns—along with the DCCC, DSCC, DGA, over one-third of statewide campaigns, and advocacy organizations around the country—have chosen ActBlue,” the website also states. It adds that the organization has “raised $2,862,403,745 for Democrats and progressive causes” in 14 years.
“Bill Nelson has reached a new low in a desperate attempt to save his political career,” NRSC spokesperson Camille Gallo said. “While Floridians were trying to save their homes and lives, Bill Nelson used this tragedy as an opportunity to save his taxpayer-funded job by shamelessly using disaster relief efforts to bolster his fundraising operation.”
Act Blue is only a disaster if Democrats win.
More from Free Beacon:
Within hours of the storm hitting, Nelson sent out an email with a list of nonprofit organizations, which he said are “vital resources for people who need help.” The nonprofits include American Red Cross, Big Bend Homeless Coalition, Florida Disaster Fund, and Team Rubicon, among others.
Hey… who knows, maybe he believes all the funds will go where they are NEEDED… and maybe they will. But my gut tells me to not hold your breath on it.
