Rep. Jared Moskowitz, a Democrat from Florida, criticized White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre for her response to a question about how the Biden administration is handling threats of antisemitism. Moskowitz, who is Jewish and has previously raised concerns about antisemitic attacks online, expressed his disappointment with Jean-Pierre’s answer.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Moskowitz called Jean-Pierre’s response “weak” and questioned why she appeared to consult a book for the approved answer. He suggested that a straightforward acknowledgment of concern about the rise of antisemitism would have been a more appropriate response. He also emphasized the need to address hatred against Muslim Americans.
Jean-Pierre’s response had focused on addressing hate-fueled attacks against Muslim and Arab Americans while downplaying the concern about antisemitism. She mentioned that there had been no credible threats related to antisemitic attacks and emphasized the disproportionate number of attacks against Muslim and Arab communities, expressing President Biden’s understanding of the worry within these communities.
