After breaking his femur, Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal will have surgery on Sunday.

A mistake at Saturday’s victory parade for the UConn Men’s Basketball team resulted in a shattered femur for the Connecticut Democrat, according to News 12 Connecticut.

This week, the University of Washington men’s basketball team won the NCAA championship.

Someone was filming the 77-year-old senator, who was injured when they fell on top of him during the march, the site reports.

According to a Saturday night phone interview with News 12 Connecticut, Blumenthal seemed upbeat and enthusiastic.

Fox News Digital’s request for comment to Blumenthal’s office went unanswered.

After being elected to the Senate in 2011 for the first time, Blumenthal is now completing his third term.

According to West Hartford News, tens of thousands of fans of the 2018-19 UConn men’s basketball team converged to Hartford, Connecticut on Saturday to show their support.

The final score was 79–56 in favor of the Huskies over San Diego State.
