Amidst a wave of mockery from a liberal media panel branding Florida’s first lady, Casey DeSantis, as “America’s Karen,” her husband, Governor Ron DeSantis, and GOP presidential candidate, staunchly defended their values and platform against attacks from the left.
During an appearance on “Varney & Co.” on Monday, Governor Ron DeSantis highlighted his wife’s remarkable qualities as the first lady of Florida, emphasizing her strength, motherhood, and role as a supportive spouse. He dismissed the mockery, explaining, “We simply brush it off because we understand that it stems from their fear of her. Her message, particularly in Iowa, resonates not only with Republican parents but also with independent and even Democrat parents. She spoke about parental rights and our refusal to tolerate leftist attempts to indoctrinate our children.”
On an episode of MSNBC’s “Saturday Show with Jonathan Capehart,” the political panel engaged in name-calling and mockery directed at Florida’s first lady while discussing DeSantis’ campaign strategy, especially in relation to Casey’s recently announced Mamas for DeSantis initiative.
“Casey DeSantis holds significant appeal as a political figure in Florida, and now on a national level. To many, she represents the more positive side of Florida’s assertive governor. Yet, to others, she has become ‘America’s Karen.’ This disconnect poses a challenge for a campaign that needs to broaden its support base to reach the White House,” remarked MSNBC analyst David Jolly.
The panel, including Tara Setmayer of The Lincoln Project, erupted in laughter at the moniker “America’s Karen” and continued to mock Casey DeSantis.
Setmayer joined in, stating, “I’ve personally dubbed her a ‘Serena Waterford wannabe.’ It’s time for her to stop. We see through her facade. There are various names that come to mind, but she should cease envisioning herself as Jackie O reincarnated. Keep an eye on Casey DeSantis; she’s a shrewd character.”
Governor Ron DeSantis countered the criticism, asserting that the critics are simply concerned about the first lady’s effectiveness. He expressed his gratitude for her unwavering advocacy for families and children, emphasizing that the couple wears criticism from MSNBC as a badge of honor.
Casey DeSantis’ national campaign revolves around the importance of parental rights and aims to extend DeSantis’ successful education agenda in Florida to a national scale.
In her Mamas for DeSantis campaign announcement video, she boldly states, “When you target our children, we will fight back. We will do everything in our power to protect our children’s innocence from being exploited for your own agenda. Our silence ends now. We stand united, and we have found our fighter.”
According to the latest Fox News poll, DeSantis currently trails former President Donald Trump by a significant margin. Responding to these numbers, DeSantis argued that the mainstream media is reluctant to support him as the Republican nominee because they recognize his potential to defeat President Biden and effectively address crucial issues such as immigration, environmental, and crime concerns.
