Anheuser-Busch’s stock price has dropped by $5 billion since the CEO of the company said he was friends with transgender guy Dylan Mulvaney.
The governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, told his people to keep boycotting Bud Light because the company hired transgender man Dylan Mulvaney. He said that conservative clients had the “power” to keep the company honest. He also said what kind of beer without booze he likes best.
DeSantis told political analyst Benny Johnson on Monday night why he had stopped drinking Bud Light. He said that he didn’t want to help “woke companies” try to “change our country, try to change policy, and try to change culture.”
“What’s the point of drinking Bud Light?” asked DeSantis. “I mean, really, that’s like rubbing it in our faces, and these companies that do this will just keep doing it if no one says anything,” he said.
The governor of the state’s Republican party said that his party doesn’t have to stay on the bench because it has the “power” to hurt the company’s bottom line.
“So, if you, as a consumer, say, ‘Yeah, they’re doing that, but I’m still going to drink it,’ then they’ll keep doing that,” the governor said. “As consumers, I think we have the power to make our voices heard, but not with every company, since conservative customers won’t always make a difference in some businesses,” the author writes.
He also warned, “This is one where you’ll feel it if you don’t have conservative beer drinkers, just so you know.”
The timing of the statements is meant to protect Bud Light and its parent company, Anheuser-Busch, from criticism for hiring a transgender woman.
Mulvaney ran into trouble when she got a batch of custom cans with her picture on them to promote her book “365 Days of Girlhood.”
The ad showed a video of Mulvaney drinking a Bud Light while sitting by a pool.
For example, Mulvaney tweeted, “Bud Light sent me what is possibly the best gift ever: a can with my face on it,” adding the phrase #budlightpartner.
In a message made on Friday, Brendan Whitworth, the CEO of Anheuser-Busch, talked about how customers and famous people had responded. He didn’t say he was sorry about the Mulvaney effort or apologize to customers who were upset.
We never meant to add to an angry conversation. Whitworth said, “Our business is to bring people together over a beer.” I care a lot about this country, our company, the goods that carry our name, and our strategic alliances.
“I will keep working hard to bring great beers to people all over the country,” says another quote from the CEO.
Since the campaign started, Anheuser-Busch has lost $5 billion in value.
Adding, “Some of these problems, people can say, ‘Oh, well, that’s kind of a one-off, sure, it was dumb to do,’ but it’s part of a bigger trend where corporate America is trying to change our society. There needs to be opposition everywhere, but especially against Bud Light, since the company is trying to change policy and culture, and I, for one, would rather be ruled by the people than by “woke” companies.
Johnson heard from Florida’s Republican governor that he and First Lady Casey DeSantis like to drink a good Guinness Draught.
In other words, “What should I do?”He then said, “When my wife and I just go out for a beer, we like the stout, Guinness,” adding that he and his wife had “always been fans” of the beer ever since they went to Dublin, Ireland.
Earlier that day, DeSantis’s campaign put out a video that made fun of Bud Light by showing the “real men of women’s sports.”
“Real Men of Women’s Sports” is a spoof of the Bud Light ad “Real Men of Genius” from the late 1990s and early 2000s. It makes fun of sexism in sports.
The video has a voiceover that says, “Team DeSantis presents the real men of women’s sports.”
The video then shows clips of transgender sports, like Lia Thomas, who swims.
The speaker cracks a joke: “Today, we’re going to honor the men who broke into the system.” She wasn’t very good with the guys, but now she’s the best with the girls. From the bottom up!
“Because without you, sports would be fair,” the video says. If it wasn’t for you, women’s games would only be for women.
After moving from the House of Representatives to the state of Florida, DeSantis became a well-known member of the Republican Party. Since he became president, he has been a strong supporter of conservative principles and a critic of “wokeness.”
People say that the Republican is thinking about running for president as soon as 2024, but he hasn’t made up his mind yet.
