Despite the claims of many Republicans, Herschel Walker, a Republican candidate in Georgia, says he would welcome the 45th president to a rally.
The Fox News interviewer wanted to know how Walker would feel if Trump, DeSantis, and Youngkin all got together before the election on December 6 to publicly back him as the Republican candidate.
During Walker’s campaign to remove incumbent Senator Johnny Isakson of Georgia, Walker said it would be “absolutely fantastic” if they could join him on stage.
Since Herschel Walker has stated that this is not about him, I believe that’s a fantastic idea. I want to stress that the Georgian people are at the center of this. We’re concentrating on the people who call the United States home. And that’s the main reason I’m running in the race. I have openly stated, “I want to bring unity to our country.”
Less than four weeks remain until Election Day, and Walker is making every effort to win over voters.
In the twenty-four hours after Tuesday’s election, the Republican raised about $3 million, and he brought in another $4 million the next day.
Trump spokesperson Taylor Budowich claims that the former president will back Walker’s Democratic opponent in their race.
“Early on, President Trump championed Herschel Walker and invested in his success,” Budowich said. Trump’s vote on November 6 will be pivotal, as he remains totally behind his candidate despite forcing a runoff.
If Walker were to announce his campaign for president in 2024, many prominent Republicans believe he would lose in the runoff.
An unnamed GOP insider expressed hope that Donald Trump will stay out of the race as much as possible. The GOP’s chances in Georgia would improve, and Trump’s nomination hopes would be bolstered by such a move.
The insider said Trump was the main factor in Walker’s defeat in the Atlanta metro region.
After talking to Georgia election analysts, one learns that they believe Trump was a huge drag on Walker in suburban Atlanta and that there is “just no reason to risk recreating it.” Trump would also be in for a world of hurt if he tried to intervene in the race and Walker lost.
Next Monday, Trump is expected to officially announce his campaign for president in 2024. Though the GOP aide warned Trump that acting now would hurt his chances in the Georgia runoff because “[Trump] doesn’t know how to do anything other than make everything about him,” the president ultimately decided to wait.
