Sean “Diddy” Combs was handed a 50-month prison sentence today following a widely publicized trial that detailed his abuse of former partner Cassie Ventura.

During the sentencing hearing in New York, prosecutors presented evidence including video footage from 2016 showing Combs attacking Ventura. The judge described the video as “powerful and disturbing” and cited it in justifying the sentence.

Combs expressed remorse, apologizing in court for his behavior and acknowledging the impact on those involved. Still, the judge emphasized that the sentence needed to reflect both accountability and public safety.

Legal experts say the ruling may mark a turning point in how courts handle domestic violence cases involving high-profile defendants, signaling that status and influence may no longer shield individuals from serious consequences.
