Park security and paramedics responded quickly when a lady in her 60s died after riding Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion attraction on Monday night. According to authorities, preliminary evidence points to a medical issue rather than a ride fault.
After a visitor was discovered unconscious in her Doom Buggy at the conclusion of the Haunted Mansion ride, Orange County dispatch verified that Anaheim Fire & Rescue units arrived at the park at approximately 6:30 p.m. Before paramedics arrived and took the woman to a local hospital, where she was subsequently declared dead, Disneyland security staff performed CPR on the spot.
Police stressed that there is no sign of any mechanical problems with the attraction, which quickly resumed operations, and stated the situation seemed compatible with a medical episode. A formal cause of death has not yet been announced by the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner’s office in anticipation of additional investigation.
In terms of intensity, the Haunted Mansion, one of Disneyland’s most recognizable, slow-moving rides, is usually regarded as family-friendly despite its gothic and occasionally terrifying themes. The attraction has been in operation since 1969 and is available in several Disney parks.
Disneyland officials affirmed their cooperation with the investigative agencies and offered their condolences to the guest’s family. Although the park has not yet made any announcements on ride operations, it is still being closely watched until the coroner’s office has finished its assessment.
