The Department of Justice has instructed all 93 U.S. Attorney offices to prepare for a possible wave of criminal activity tied to the upcoming nationwide “No Kings” protests scheduled for June 14. The directive urges federal prosecutors to be ready to swiftly investigate and prosecute offenses such as property damage, assaults on law enforcement, and other acts of violence.
In the memo, the DOJ emphasized the importance of quick legal action, advising attorneys to fast-track referrals, secure warrants without delay, and issue press releases for every federal charge brought forward. The agency reiterated that while peaceful protest is protected under the Constitution, criminal activity will not be tolerated.
The warning comes in the wake of recent unrest across multiple cities, much of it connected to ongoing immigration enforcement actions and recent deployments of federal forces. Previous incidents have led to arrests involving explosives and attacks on officers, prompting heightened vigilance from federal agencies.
The FBI has launched a dedicated tip line for reporting protest-related criminal conduct, signaling an aggressive stance ahead of anticipated mass demonstrations.
