A former Brown University doctor recently deported by U.S. authorities was discovered to have sympathetic images of Hezbollah leaders stored on her phone, according to the Department of Justice.
Federal investigators reported that during a forensic review of the woman’s phone, images of top Hezbollah figures were uncovered, raising serious concerns over potential connections to the designated terrorist organization. The DOJ stated that the images were not incidental but rather indicated a level of admiration or allegiance.
The doctor, who had been residing in the United States on a visa, came under federal scrutiny during a broader investigation. Immigration authorities moved forward with deportation proceedings after confirming the presence of the controversial images and other undisclosed information that reportedly raised national security concerns.
Following her removal, officials emphasized the seriousness of any support or sympathy toward foreign terrorist organizations, reiterating the government’s zero-tolerance policy when national security is at stake. The doctor has not been charged with any terrorism-related offenses but remains barred from returning to the country.
