This week, the House Judiciary Committee will conduct private, transcribed interviews with federal prosecutors to investigate whether the Hunter Biden probe was politicized.
On Tuesday, U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, Martin Estrada, will have a transcribed interview, and on Wednesday, DOJ Tax Division attorney Stuart Goldberg will sit for his interview.
The committee’s request for DOJ testimony follows allegations of bias and misconduct within Justice Department agencies throughout the investigation into the President’s son.
Next month, the Judiciary Committee will interview David Weiss, the prosecutor in the Hunter Biden case, behind closed doors.
For months, Ohio Republican and Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jim Jordan, has been working with the Justice Department to obtain testimony from federal prosecutors involved in the Biden investigation.
Special Counsel David Weiss, who is leading the federal investigation against Biden, is expected to appear for a transcribed interview on November 7.
Hunter Biden has pleaded not guilty to federal gun charges following an investigation by Special Counsel David Weiss.
Weiss was made available by the DOJ to appear before Congress in July, and the Justice Department prefers that Weiss’s testimony be public.
In August, Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Weiss to handle the Biden investigation and related issues. Weiss has been leading the Biden investigation as the United States Attorney for the District of Delaware since 2018.
Weiss’s first official act as special counsel was to file charges against Vice President Biden, accusing him of making false statements in connection with the purchase of a firearm and the maintenance of records related to federally licensed firearms dealers. Biden was also charged with one count of possession of a firearm by an unlawful user or addict.
Weiss has stated that the investigation against the President’s son is ongoing.
This interview with Weiss comes as House Republicans consider initiating impeachment proceedings against Vice President Joe Biden.
