After his husband, 34-year-old personal trainer Jacob Zieben-Hood, was found dead stabbed in the couple’s apartment early Friday, 40-year-old fitness model and influencer Donald Zieben-Hood was arrested in connection with a tragic murder in Harlem.
Jacob was discovered slumped over a toilet with several stab wounds, including serious damage to his head and calf, by police after they responded to a 911 call at around four in the morning. First responders declared him dead at the scene, which included multiple knives.
According to investigators, Jacob texted his father the previous evening, claiming that Donald had stopped him from leaving the house and sending a picture of a new wound on his leg. It was alleged that Donald could be heard shouting at his hubby in the background during that last call.
Records reveal a very tumultuous relationship: since 2022, there have been over nine recorded cases of domestic violence, including claims of choking, threats with weapons, and violations of protective orders. Donald had been arrested several times, but each time he was released on bail.
Donald was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree burglary, criminal contempt, and possession of weapons following Jacob’s passing. While authorities await the results of the medical examiner’s report to decide whether to file homicide charges against him, he is still being held without bond.
The event has sparked a homicide inquiry and brought up important issues with the city’s monitoring of domestic abuse.
