Donald Trump Jr., in a recent interview, floated the idea that Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News host, could be a serious contender for his father, former President Donald Trump’s vice-presidential pick if he secures the 2024 Republican nomination. This suggestion adds a new dimension to the ongoing speculation about the former president’s potential running mate.

Speaking on Newsmax, Trump Jr. responded affirmatively to the possibility of Carlson joining the ticket, citing the close relationship and alignment of views between his father and the former TV host. “They’re very friendly, I think they agree on virtually all of these things,” he told Rob Finnerty on “Wake Up America.”

The former president himself has previously mentioned Carlson as a possible choice. In an interview on “The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show” last November, Trump expressed his admiration for Carlson’s common sense, stating, “I guess I would” consider him for the position.

Carlson, 54, who hosted a primetime show on Fox News for six years, was unexpectedly fired from the network in April. His departure followed shortly after Fox News agreed to settle a defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems. Despite this, Carlson has continued to maintain a presence in the media world with his own streaming service, the Tucker Carlson Network, and a news show on X.

In addition to Carlson, Trump Jr. named other potential candidates for the VP slot, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio, and Ben Carson, Trump’s former housing secretary. Emphasizing the need for a combative running mate, Trump Jr. expressed his desire for a candidate who aligns with and aggressively supports his father’s policies.

However, Trump Jr. was clear about his opposition to former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who he believes is being backed by Democrats. “I would do whatever I could to make sure it wasn’t Nikki Haley!” he stated.

The speculation about Donald Trump’s vice-presidential pick comes amid his campaign for the 2024 presidential election. With several names being considered, the eventual choice of a running mate will be a crucial decision that could significantly impact the campaign’s direction and success.
