He said that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis should be in Fort Lauderdale trying to deal with flooding in one of his state’s biggest towns instead of “campaigning” all over the country.
Trump says DeSantis doesn’t have the right to run for office right now. He’ll be there, I’m sure.
Even though DeSantis hasn’t said for sure that he will run for president in 2024, he is in charge of a third-party group that has started running attack ads against Trump in Republican races. Trump hasn’t said for sure that he will run for president this year, so DeSantis is running against him. He has already started running attack ads and hiring people for his campaign.
One of Florida’s biggest cities, Fort Lauderdale, has seen storms like never before in the last two days. This week, the first damage was so bad that the Fort Lauderdale airport had to close for at least one day.
Even though the airport in Fort Lauderdale was closed this week, Representative DeSantis went back to flying around the country. This week, he gave talks in Ohio, Virginia, and New Hampshire while people in the city tried to figure out how to solve the problem.
Donald Trump Jr., the oldest son of the former president, has already said in public that DeSantis made a mistake by not going back to Florida to deal with the problem in Fort Lauderdale. The fight between the former president and the governor of Florida has gotten much worse, but Trump’s involvement is a new development.
Not just Trump fans in Fort Lauderdale didn’t like what DeSantis said in answer. Even the mayor of Fort Lauderdale, who is a Democrat, says he hasn’t heard from DeSantis. Some state officials from DeSantis’ area have also said bad things about him. A Democratic state senator named Shevrin Jones said that DeSantis’s decision to skip Florida and stop campaign events was “disgraceful.”
DeSantis’s aide, Bryan Griffin, said that the candidate has been listening from a distance.
Yesterday, the governor left, and while he was gone, the historic rains got even worse. Griffin said to Politico, “He gets back today.” The state’s emergency services, on the other hand, have been told by Governor DeSantis to help with the flooding and meet the towns’ needs as they become clear. Broward County has declared that a state of emergency is in effect.
Trump told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview backstage at the NRA meeting that he might go to Fort Lauderdale to see the damage and talk to first responders. He says that his home at the exclusive Mar-a-Lago seaside club in Palm Beach, Florida, is close to Fort Lauderdale, which is good because the rains that caused the flooding hit most of southeast Florida.
When asked if he planned to visit the areas hit by the storm, Trump said, “I might, I’m right there.” I just left the area around Palm Beach. It’s not too far to get to Fort Lauderdale. Even though it hasn’t been hit as hard as Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach has also been affected. People say that something like what happened there only happens once every 100 years.
MAGA Inc., Trump’s official Super PAC, has released an ad called “Pudding Fingers” to attack Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. It makes fun of him for denying that he ever ate pudding with his fingers and tells him not to touch people’s Social Security and Medicare. This is done with the image of dirty fingers.
As a response to Trump’s speech to the NRA, DeSantis’ outside group, Never Back Down, made an attack ad. Never Back Down is made up of a few experienced political advisers.
