During one episode of Maher’s “Club Random” show, a fight broke out between the two hosts.
After Dr. Phil McGraw refused to say that former President Trump is worse than President Biden on his lunchtime show, he and late-night host Bill Maher got into an argument.
In Maher’s most recent “Club Random” podcast, which aired on Sunday, McGraw detailed the introduction of his new business. At the end of the year, McGraw told Maher, he will air the final edition of his nationally syndicated talk program and would talk about the “concerns” facing the country since it is “headed for a cliff.”
It’s reasonable to wonder, “What are the main reasons?” Querying Maher.
Well, that depends on whatever course you’re interested in discussing,” McGraw remarked. I’ve stayed out of politics because I think the arguments on both sides are baseless. Although neither of our two most recent presidents has gained my affection, I have the utmost respect for the position of the President.
The words “in the same breath” to characterize Trump and Biden caught Maher off guard. They are “totally different species,” he said.
In response, the other person says, “And one of them is a much bigger danger to the republic than the 45th, wouldn’t you say?” Querying Maher. “Is it true that Joe Biden poses a threat to American national security? No. While we applaud Joe Biden’s sobering up, he remains too tied to the far left of the Democratic Party to be an effective leader. He won’t ever tell them to shut up or sit down. I don’t like that deal, and it doesn’t taste very nice, but it’s better than Trump any day of the week. “Hurry up!”
I care deeply about the two of you. McGraw warned, “I’m really concerned about the “woke” strategy that is being promoted,” before launching into a rant about brainwashing in higher education.
Though Maher and McGraw agreed on many points about the course of the cultural war, the HBO host was keen to bring out their disagreements regarding the nation’s leaders.
Trump must realize that Joe Biden is even worse than he is. “Come on, doctor!” he exclaims, in sharp contrast to Joe Biden. ”Maher!” shouted Maher.
McGraw said, “It is culture, not politics, that decides how a society turns out.” Politics doesn’t interest me at all. Put back to the beginning, you are… Roughly half of all presidency terms have been shared between Democrats and Republicans. When their odds of becoming president were about even, and when they were much lower, they nevertheless managed to hold both chambers of Congress. Think about the here and now. They both show up about in the same location. I couldn’t care less about that. I value upholding our cultural norms.
Maher said, “Okay, I’m disappointed that I can’t get you to just come out and say that Trump is a completely different animal than the politics on the left and right,” referring to the fact that they had previously agreed that Trump was distinct from the traditional political spectrum. He represents something novel and far more dangerous. Remember that we’re talking about a foreign species that was dumped into a wild forest. But that doesn’t make this equal in any way. Nobody other in American history, not even members of his own party, would dare refuse to recognise or actively attempt to alter the conclusion of an election they all knew was lost. We’ve gone too far, at this point. He would be the only one of his kind if unicorns were huge fat butts. If I can’t trust you on that, it’s hard for me to put myself in your shoes and see things as you do.
When McGraw started, “I’m telling you-”
Doc, you just can’t do it, Maher joked.
That, believe me, is not a valid excuse. Is there even a distinction? The correct response is “he is no longer the leader.” McGraw said, “He probably won’t be,” and went on to say that, in his opinion, “cancel culture” poses a larger danger to the United States than politics.
The fact that he and McGraw could still be friends despite their differing political views was a relief to Maher.
As Maher put it, “one thing you need in a friendship,” and he hopes theirs with him will last for years to come. “is the capacity to discuss and resolve disagreements.” This is only a sample of what I think needs to happen in the USA. You’ve become known as Dr. Phil, a kind of problem-solving guru and wise old guy to many. But there’s no way we can find common ground on this Trump issue. You understand where I’m coming from. That is OK with me. Like the end of any other relationship, I guess it’s time for us to go on without further communication. All I know about you is what I just told you. Neither does it make me detest you any less than it does loathe you.You decide that’s the most likely location for him to be. We don’t know which is right, but it doesn’t mean we won’t keep looking for answers.
