A tragic collision on August 24 claimed the lives of two men—just hours before one was to be married—after a 17-year-old, identified as Jimmy Connors, allegedly drove the wrong way on the Henry Hudson Parkway in Manhattan while intoxicated.

Connors, who reportedly spent the night drinking at a Midtown nightclub despite being visibly drunk, fled the scene after the crash. An off-duty NYPD officer pursued him in his personal vehicle instead of reporting the incident. The driver of a Chevrolet Silverado crossed into oncoming lanes and struck a vehicle carrying 38-year-old groom-to-be Kirk Walker and his cousin Rob McLaurin, killing both men instantly.

Walker was set to marry the next day and was returning from his bachelor party when the collision occurred. Connors fled but abandoned his injured passenger; he was apprehended the following day at the Canadian border. Currently, Connors faces charges including second‑degree murder, manslaughter, and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

The groom’s fiancée has filed a wrongful‑death lawsuit naming Connors, the nightclub operator (Nebula), the off‑duty officer, the NYPD, and the City of New York. The suit alleges failure to follow emergency protocols and serving alcohol to a minor, seeking damages for emotional trauma, negligence, and other losses.

Connors remains detained without bail as legal proceedings advance.
