Jamie Lee Komoroski, the woman accused of causing a deadly collision while driving under the influence and murdering a newlywed bride, appeared before Judge Michael Nettles during a court proceeding. He rejected her plea for release on bail. After receiving the judge’s ruling, Komoroski appeared on camera from the Charleston County Detention Center and was extremely upset, sobbing. The court was inconsolable when Samantha Miller’s family members offered moving evidence.

She didn’t simply kill my kid, Miller’s distraught mother said as she spoke before the court while sobbing, describing the extreme agony that Komoroski’s actions had caused her. We were all slain by her.

The terrible event reportedly took place when Komoroski, who had a blood alcohol percentage of 0.261, was driving her Toyota Camry at a pace double the speed limit on a calm road near Folly Beach, South Carolina. Her automobile struck a golf cart that was transporting Miller, her recentlywed husband Aric Hutchinson, and two other family members from their wedding celebration. Hutchinson, the other two, and Miller all suffered major injuries as a consequence of the crash. Miller passed away prematurely.

Komoroski is accused with three counts of DUI causing serious bodily harm or death, reckless vehicular murder, and intoxicated driving. Her legal team asked for her release on a bail of $100,000 with the stipulation that she would attend a treatment program for substance addiction and be under her mother’s care. But Judge Nettles rejected the motion for bail because she posed a flight risk.

The court requested the prosecution and defense to move the trial up from its current March 2024 date since it has attracted a lot of public interest. If the trial hasn’t started by then, Komoroski could be eligible for release on a $150,000 surety bond with home arrest and electronic monitoring.

Komoroski is also dealing with a wrongful death case brought by Aric Hutchinson against her and a number of Folly Beach pubs and eateries for allegedly serving her alcohol despite her obvious drunkenness.

A distraught family is seeking justice for the loss of their beloved Samantha Miller as a result of this tragic event.
