Authorities have identified Ella Cook as the first victim killed in the shooting connected to Brown University, according to law enforcement officials handling the investigation.

Police confirmed Cook’s identity as they continue to examine the events that led to the attack, which left multiple people dead and others injured. The shooting prompted an immediate campus lockdown and a large-scale response from local, state, and federal authorities.

Details surrounding the motive and sequence of events remain under review as investigators gather evidence, analyze surveillance footage, and interview witnesses. Officials have not released additional personal details beyond confirming Cook’s identity.

Brown University administrators expressed condolences to Cook’s family and said counseling and support services are being provided to students and staff affected by the tragedy. Memorials and vigils are being organized as the campus community mourns the loss.

The investigation remains active, with authorities indicating that more information will be shared as it becomes available and appropriate to release.
