Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has called for the complete removal of tariffs between the United States and Europe, urging both sides to embrace a “freedom trade zone” that promotes unrestricted commerce and economic cooperation.

Speaking during a recent event, Musk expressed optimism about the potential for closer economic ties across the Atlantic, emphasizing that reducing trade barriers would benefit consumers, businesses, and innovation on both continents. He stated that zero tariffs would create a more competitive global market and help streamline the movement of goods and services.

Musk’s remarks come amid heightened trade tensions, with the U.S. implementing new tariffs on a range of imported products, prompting concern among industry leaders about rising costs and supply chain disruptions. European leaders have also voiced their own reservations about retaliatory measures and the broader impact on transatlantic trade.

As CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Musk has consistently advocated for free-market principles and warned against protectionist policies that he believes hinder progress and increase economic inefficiencies. In his latest comments, he called on policymakers to move beyond short-term disputes and focus instead on long-term partnerships that support technological growth and international cooperation.

While there has been no official response from government officials regarding Musk’s proposal, his statement has sparked discussion among economists and trade analysts. Many see the idea of a U.S.-Europe free trade zone as ambitious but potentially transformative if pursued through diplomatic channels.

Musk’s push for zero tariffs highlights the growing pressure from the private sector for stable and predictable trade policies, particularly as industries navigate economic uncertainty and global competition.
