Emily Blunt, an actress from the United Kingdom, has made an apology after it was discovered in a resurfaced interview from 2012 that she had fat-shamed a female waiter. In an interview that aired on the “Jonathan Ross Show,” Blunt referred to a waitress at Chili’s as being “enormous.”

The following is an excerpt from a statement that was given by Blunt and acquired by Fox News Digital: “I just need to address this head-on as my jaw was on the floor watching this clip from 12 years ago.” On a talk show, I can’t believe I would have the audacity to say anything so disrespectful, insulting, and completely unconnected to the narrative I was trying to convey.

“I’ve always regarded myself someone who would never dream of offending anyone, so whatever compelled myself to say anything like this in that moment is incomprehensible to me or anything I stand for,” Blunt said, expressing her tremendous regret for the things she had spoken. And yet, it occurred, and I said it; I sincerely apologize for any distress that this may have caused. I was definitely of an age where I should have known better.

Blunt, who was promoting her film “Looper” at the time of the interview, related an account about her experience at a Chili’s restaurant in Thibodaux, Louisiana, when the offensive comments were uttered.

Emily Blunt, who is perhaps best recognized for her appearances in movies such as “The Devil Wears Prada” and “A Quiet Place,” recently revealed her desire to retire from acting in order to spend more time with her family, particularly her kids. She has a husband by the name of actor John Krasinski.
