Rep. Mike Flood is preparing to submit a formal complaint to the House Ethics Committee charging Rep. Ilhan Omar with 18 separate statements and behaviors he says are deeply troubling in light of her response to the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
The complaint, expected filing soon, alleges that Omar’s comments and public posts following the killing reflect poorly on the dignity and decorum expected of a member of Congress. It follows a related effort by GOP lawmakers to officially censure her and remove her from key committee assignments.
Flood has joined three other Republicans who earlier voted to table the censure resolution, arguing that although they found Omar’s remarks objectionable, they believe due process demands a full ethics review rather than hasty punishment.
As part of the investigation, Ethics Committee staff will review all relevant public statements, interviews, and social media content to assess whether Omar violated House rules. The outcome could influence her standing within her party, her committee roles, and her congressional reputation moving forward.
