Desmond Holly, a 16-year-old student at Evergreen High School in Colorado, has been confirmed by authorities as the gunman in a shooting that wounded two classmates and ended with his own self-inflicted death.
The attack occurred around 12:24 p.m., when Holly opened fire using a revolver, both inside and outside the school. One student was hit inside the building and another outside; both remain hospitalized in critical condition.
Officials say Holly had been radicalized by an extremist network, though they have not disclosed which one or provided further details. He carried a large amount of ammunition and reloaded multiple times during the incident.
Evergreen staff and students executed lockdown procedures that blocked Holly from accessing certain areas, which likely prevented additional victims. Windows and lockers were damaged in the gunfire.
Investigators are now examining Holly’s home, locker, phone, and other personal effects to determine his motives and how he obtained the firearm. The shooter died later Wednesday.
