Two individuals, Calla Walsh and Bridget Shergalis, are facing felony charges following their involvement in vandalizing the New Hampshire offices of Israeli company Elbit Systems. Walsh, a 19-year-old political activist from Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Shergalis, a 27-year-old former Disney Channel actress from Dayville, Connecticut, were part of a demonstration organized by the anti-Israel group Palestine Action US.

Walsh, recognized for her involvement with leftist political activism in New England, has been featured in the media for her participation in Senator Ed Markey’s senate campaign in 2020. She has also interacted with political figures like Senator Elizabeth Warren and Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel. Her parents are both academically associated with Boston University and Harvard Extension School. Her activities have included promoting the Mapping Project, which listed names and addresses related to the Jewish community and Israel in Massachusetts, and expressing views on social media about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Shergalis, known for her roles in the Disney sketch comedy series “So Random!” and other TV shows and films, has been criticized by some for her actions, with Republican strategist Garrett Ventry labeling them as influenced by social media trends rather than informed by facts.

During the protest, demonstrators were seen blocking the driveway to Elbit Systems’ offices, while the building itself was vandalized with red spray paint, and smoke was observed emanating from the roof. The protesters caused further damage inside, including to the building’s skylights and HVAC equipment. An incendiary device was also found with one of the suspects.

Along with a third demonstrator, Sophie Marika Ross, Walsh and Shergalis face multiple felony charges including rioting, sabotage, and attempted burglary. Walsh, after posting bail, commented on the charges against her, framing them as political repression and reiterating her support for Palestine. Jonah Steinberg from the Anti-Defamation League in New England expressed concern over the actions, highlighting their criminal nature and potential influence from groups like Hamas.

Walsh has denied any wrongdoing in the incident, asserting her right to protest, while her mother called for the charges to be dropped. Disney Channel, Shergalis, and Christopher Walsh have not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter.
