Annie Tomasini, former Deputy White House Chief of Staff under Former President Biden, has become the third ex-staffer to take the Fifth Amendment in the GOP-led House Oversight investigation into Biden’s cognitive fitness and use of an autopen. She declined to answer questions about whether she was coached to misrepresent Biden’s health, tampered with classified documents, or facilitated business dealings.

This follows similar refusals from Biden’s personal physician, Dr Kevin O’Connor, and First Lady Jill Biden’s former chief of staff, Anthony Bernal. Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer argues the repeated pleas indicate a potential cover-up inside the White House.

Republicans plan to expand the inquiry, summoning more former staffers for interviews throughout August and September. Meanwhile, Democrats dismiss the probe as politically charged theater. President Biden maintains he personally approved all major decisions during his tenure.
