A critical air safety system used to relay vital flight information to pilots and airlines has experienced a major outage, leading to expected flight delays and disruptions across multiple airports. The Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) system, which provides real-time updates on flight restrictions, hazards, and operational changes, went offline, prompting immediate concerns from aviation officials and travelers alike.

Authorities have confirmed that the outage is affecting air traffic operations nationwide, with flight schedules already experiencing delays as a result. Airlines have been advised to prepare for potential disruptions, as pilots rely on NOTAM alerts for essential navigation and safety updates before takeoff.

Federal aviation officials are working urgently to restore the system, though no timeline has been given for full recovery. Investigators are also assessing whether the outage was caused by a technical malfunction, a cyber-related issue, or another unforeseen factor.

Passengers at major airports have been advised to check with their airlines for updated flight information. While some departures and arrivals continue as scheduled, many flights are expected to experience delays until the system is fully operational.

The disruption has renewed discussions about the reliability of critical aviation infrastructure, with industry experts emphasizing the need for stronger backup systems to prevent widespread travel impacts in the future. Officials have assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to resolve the issue and restore normal flight operations as quickly as possible.
