Jason Elola, 49, a father of nine from Tracy, California, was found critically injured following a road-rage incident in Castro Valley and later died at a hospital. The altercation began when Elola’s vehicle was rear-ended on a freeway off-ramp during a family outing.
Elola, who was driving with his wife and young daughters after celebrating their son’s 18th birthday, stepped out of the car to check on the situation and protect his family. According to law enforcement, the other driver, identified as 37-year-old Martin Davis Jr., fled the scene but later returned and was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Authorities are investigating the crash and subsequent confrontation as an active homicide case. The victim’s loved ones remember him as a dedicated father and community member, and have appealed for witnesses or dash-cam footage captured during the incident. A GoFundMe page has been launched to support the family with funeral costs and household upheaval.
