Just hours after a tense confrontation at a press event, the home of slain Texas teen Austin Metcalf became the target of a swatting incident late Thursday, intensifying tensions surrounding the high-profile case.
Frisco police responded to a false report of a shooting at the Metcalf residence, only to discover it was a deliberate hoax. This marks the second swatting attempt against the grieving family since Austin’s fatal stabbing during a school track meet on April 2.
Earlier that day, Jeff Metcalf, Austin’s father, made an unplanned appearance at a press conference held by the family of Karmelo Anthony—the 17-year-old charged in Austin’s death. The event, hosted in Dallas by the Next Generation Action Network, quickly escalated when organizers asked Metcalf to leave. Police escorted him out after heated exchanges between both families.
At the conference, Anthony’s mother, Karla Hayes, spoke emotionally about the backlash her family has faced since her son’s arrest, claiming they’ve been subjected to ongoing harassment.
The swatting incidents are now under active investigation, with law enforcement warning that such false emergency calls pose serious risks to public safety. As emotions continue to run high, officials are urging the public to allow the legal process to move forward peacefully.
